The University of Virginia owns an extensive portfolio of buildings and land, which includes approximately 16 million square feet of building space and over 1,000 acres of land.
The University of Virginia offers many event space options throughout Grounds. Reservations should be made as early as possible, particularly for large events. The primary tool for finding available space is The SOURCE.
The University’s Space Working Group (SWG) manages space requests submitted through this website. SWG provides options and solutions when it has been determined that the space need cannot be accommodated within the school or business unit’s space holdings.
First, determine if your space need can be accommodated within your department, school or business unit’s space holdings by contacting your department chair, head, associate dean or space management department. If it has been determined that your space need cannot be met within your department, school or business unit, please email email@example.com and include a description of your space needs. Someone from the SWG will contact you to guide you through the University’s space request process.
For those who are familiar with the process, please submit a University Space Request Form.
UVA Facilities Management Geospatial Engineering Services (GES) maintains the University’s space inventory and floor plans. If you are in need of space information, space analysis assistance or help completing the space inventory verification process, please contact Jennifer Heckman or the GES team.
UVA Real Estate and Leasing Services supervises and coordinates all real estate leasing for the University. If you have questions about leasing space, regardless of the intended use (administrative, research, other), please contact Charlie Hurt or Louise Gilliam Williams. Charlie and Louise can explain what approvals are required, and guide you through site selection, interior space planning, design and construction.
